Discover Australia’s best kept secret - Noosa!
It’s where Australians love to holiday and it’s fast being discovered by international visitors seeking a rejuvenating beach holiday. In 2007, Noosa was awarded Biosphere Reserve status by UNESCO - a prized acknowledgment of our unique approach to sustainable living. As Queensland’s first and only Biosphere Reserve, Noosa is the perfect blend of idyllic nature and stylish offerings.

Tourism Noosa is a local tourism authority working with industry to guide the strategic marketing and sustainable development of the Noosa region, situated on Queensland's

Sunshine Coast, 90 minutes drive from Brisbane. Noosa is home to over 50,000 people and has an annual visitor market of 1.7 million, over 10% of which is international.

Noosa is known as a stylish coastal resort destination that combines the appeal of pristine beaches and a temperate year-round climate with world class dining and sophisticated shopping. And with almost 35% of its 543 square miles comprised of protected land or waterways, Noosa is an ideal destination for nature-based and adventure activities.

Supported by a strong commitment to protecting the natural environment that is so much a part of the region's tourism appeal, Noosa maintains a village feel that is characterised by low-rise buildings and no traffic lights (bar 2 at school crossings!) or parking metres.

While these much-loved aspects of Noosa remain unchanged, there are exciting new developments, ranging from day spas and tours, to new accommodation and even a Hastings Street makeover!

Five main selling points:

  1. Natural environment - our landscape is an intrinsic part of the visitor experience, regardless of how active or relaxed people want to be. As Queensland’s only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and with 35% of its 543 sq metres set aside as protected land and waterways, Noosa is a nature-lover’s paradise! We are also home to koalas, kangaroos, bush turkeys and a myriad other native Australian animals. The natural highlight for many people is the stunning Noosa National Park, easy walking distance from Hastings Street.
  2. Luxury offerings - our stunning natural offering is complimented by city quality luxury from 5 star resort accommodation and brand new eco-resorts to absolute beachfront restaurants serving some of Australia’s best fare. From the simple indulgence of a champagne river cruise aboard an authentic Venetian gondola to a 3 hour day spa treatment, luxury is around every corner in Noosa!
  3. World champion experiences - from triple Olympians to former World Pro surfers, Noosa is the place to learn with the best! From horse treks and surf lessons visitors can expect expert tuition in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
  4. Great events - Noosa’s calendar of events ranges from arts and performance, to music, mountain bike rides and marathons. The Noosa Triathlon, held in October/November each year, is the world’s 3rd largest triathlon event and last year celebrated its 25th year. And this year’s Noosa Festival of Surfing, an annual fixture in March, welcomed a host of world surfing champions, including current World Champions, Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore.
  5. Day tour experiences - Noosa is the perfect base to explore some of Australia’s most iconic places. Take a 4WD day or overnight tour along the sand ‘highway’ of Noosa North Shore to World Heritage listed Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island, or jump on a sea plane to arrive at Lady Musgrave or Lady Elliot Islands, stunning features that form part of the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. There are also complimentary daily bus transfers from Noosa to the famous Australia Zoo.
