What’s new for 2008-09:
A golfer’s paradise is on its way
Unbeknownst to island guests, the construction of the international standard Dent Island Golf Course is now well underway with work progressing to on all holes. Plans are in place to have the 6083m, par 71 course operational by this time next year.
Peter Thomson from Thomson Perrett Golf Course Architects aligns this course potentially with some of the best courses around the world.
The course has been designed to keep in mind that it is not only a course for resort golfers, but also a course that will challenge the professionals. The tee complexes have been positioned taking into account the ‘big hitters’, ‘club’ and resort golfers. Too often on many courses, the ladies’ tees are positioned in a location that detracts from the challenging and enjoyable aspects of the hole. Design and placement has ensured that the challenging and enjoyable aspects of each hole are preserved from all tee positions.
The course itself winds its way over 11km with buggy paths to the southern tip of the island and back again. There is over 100m in difference between the highest and lowest holes. The views will be spectacular.
Hamilton Island Yacht Club
A dynamic new yacht club is currently under construction on Hamilton Island (due to open mid 2009). The Yacht Club will be located at the entrance of the harbour and will feature magnificent dual-water visas of both the marina as well as Dent Passage.
The Yacht Club will feature a waterfront swimming pool, bars, dining, three state of the art conference and function rooms, as well as a private "members only" area on the top floor.
A welcome addition to our existing facilities, the Yacht Club function facilities will bring the Hamilton Island conference room total to 13.
