Registration Opens for Corroboree 2010 in Hamilton Island

From September 10-14 2010, Corroboree 2010 will be held on Hamilton Island in the stunning surrounds the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef.  A “Corroboree” is a ceremonial meeting to Australian Aborigines and this event will focus on cultivating relationships between the Australian and North and South American travel industries.  Registrations for Corroboree 2010 are now open, so visit the Aussie Specialist website to find out more.

Wilson Island Voted “Top Spot” to Pop the Question

If you’re looking for that special place to go down on one knee, then look no further than Wilson Island on the Great Barrier Reef.  Both were named as two of the top places to pop the question by boutique hotel specialists Mr & Mrs Smith. Wilson Island was named fourth in a list of top 10 hotels to propose, alongside other destinations as far afield as Belize, Marrakech and South Africa.

TripAdvisor Survey Reveals Growth Spurt in Family Travel

TripAdvisor recently announced the results of its annual family travel survey. Ninety-two percent of travelers with children plan to take at least one family vacation this year, up from 88 percent who did so last year, according to more than 1,100 U.S. travelers surveyed. 2010 may also see a trend for traveling further abroad, with 33 percent planning to take both domestic and international family trips, up five percent from last year.  Click here to read the very interesting findings.

Islands of the Great Barrier Reef campaign Signature Travel Network

Tourism Queensland and the Signature Travel Network will be launching an Islands of the Great Barrier Reef campaign with a “Stay 5 nights, Pay 4 nights” offer.

Commencing on June 2, the resorts that are participating in this fantastic offer are Dunk Island, Bedarra Island, Hamilton Island, Hayman Island, Daydream Island, Lizard Island, Heron Island and Thala Beach Lodge.

Consumers will see the Islands offer on a 4-page advertorial in Signature’s “The Travel Magazine” (500,000 readers), an e-newsletter to 600,000 travelers, banner ads and a feature story on travel websites and on Signature’s 1,100 travel agency websites.

Consumers will be encouraged to find out more about the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef with a Signature promotion that will see one lucky winner receive their dream vacation to the Island of their choice.

This extensive campaign aims to raise the profile of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef to compete with Tahiti, Mexico, Hawaii, Caribbean and Maldives to become a favorite Island vacation destination for Americans!

Down Under Answers Aussie vs Kiwi Campaign

Tourism Queensland have partnered with Down Under Answers and Qantas to be part of “Aussie vs Kiwi: which road will you choose?” campaign.

Bringing to life the age-old Aussie vs Kiwi debate, travelers can choose from nine Australia vacations, nine New Zealand getaways, or eight packages that include both countries.

Packages that include Queensland begin at an unbelievably low $1,299 per person (including airfare and six nights hotel accommodation, based upon double occupancy) and offers end April 30, 2010, or until sold out.

Daintree Walkabout: Down Under Tours New Indigenous Rainforest Product

Cairns Indigenous Art Fair, Cairns, August 20-22 2010

From August 20-22, Australia’s only art fair dedicated to showcasing traditional and contemporary art work by indigenous artists born or based in Queensland takes over Cairns.

The fair features established and emerging artists and gives visitors the opportunity to view paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, photography and mew media arts. The experience is enriched by a complementary cultural program featuring indigenous dance, music, a symposium, artist talks and a children’s art station. Visitors also have the opportunity to purchase some of the art works on display.

Audi Hamilton Island Race Week 2010, Hamilton Island, August 20-28 2010

Hamilton Island Race Week is Australia’s largest offshore keelboat regatta.  Spectators and yachties from around the globe sail to Hamilton Island in August for the annual Hamilton Island Race Week, Australia’s largest offshore keelboat regatta.

Hamilton Island Race Week is one of Australia’s favorite yachting events and a firm fixture on the international sailing calendar. Competitors, family and friends come together to enjoy the convivial atmosphere and unique camaraderie of the event’s on-water and off-water carnival.

Racing is split into a Grand Prix class for top-class racers; an IRC Passage class for modern fast-cruising yachts; performance racing and sports boat classes. Plus cruising, corporate, bareboat and non-spinnaker divisions.

The Hamilton Island Yacht Club and marina are home to the regatta during the fun and excitement of Race Week. Join in the race festivities and lively calendar of events, including gourmet meals prepared by celebrity chefs, fashion shows, golfing competitions and wine tastings.
